Stricken with grief after
finding out his brother had died in battle; Aiden MacAlister devotedly
takes care of both lands by traveling back and forth to his brother’s
holdings and his own. Then one day on the road to Dunstaffnage Castle,
he comes across a very naked woman crawling on her hands and knees
towards the loch. Terrified for her safety, he calls out to her as he
scrambles from his horse and snatches her into his arms just before she
falls into the icy water.
Jaedin Greer, a captain and nurse in the United States Army was on a
mission when her convoy was attacked and her Hum-V was hit by mortar
fire and tossed it like a toy leaving it upside down. A bit shaken but
alright, Jaedin cut herself loose then grabbed her pack of supplies to
help her wounded medic. Once she dragged the soldier away from the
wreckage, there was another loud explosion and bright flash of light,
knocking her unconscious. The next thing she knew, it was raining and
she couldn’t see. While crawling around to find her bearings, a set of
large, strong arms encircled her, picking her up as if she weighed
nothing while he asked if she was daft.
Could this woman be the antidote Aiden needs to help him find peace with
his brother’s death? Can this Highland warrior see beyond his own
burdens to be Jaedin’s much needed eyes? Will Jaedin, an ambitious
modern day warrior allow this arrogant man close to her heart and find
Her Noble Destiny?
Reviews:
Jaedin is a medic in the Army and is on an emergency to aid those in
need when her team is suddenly attacked by the enemy and things start
blowing up. When she wakes up from that, she begins to search for
survivors and finds one of her friends. Pulling him to safety was the
last thing she was able to do before being swept into very strong winds
and knocked unconscious. She awakens to find herself in 1300 Scotland.
Blind, naked and in desperate need of help.
Aiden finds Jaedin on his way to his brother's keep and quickly bundles
her up and takes her with him.
Their journey together is interesting while they try to figure each
other out. Of course, they may not be able to fully understand each
other before Jaedin is suddenly swept into another storm and taken from
Aiden...
I don't want to give the ending away, but I did like what I read.

Aiden MacAlister, the peacemaker of the family,
is heartbroken after his brother dies in battle. He has the task of
caring for his brother’s land. On the way to Dunstaffnage Castle, he
comes upon an injured woman who desperately needs help.
Jaedin Greer, a United States Army captain and nurse, is working in Iraq
with the military police unit, who are short on medics. It is during an
explosion she soon finds herself in the 1300’s, in a place somewhat
familiar.
Aiden is on the way to Dunstaffnage Castle when he happens upon a woman
needing assistance. Jaedin hears hoof beats and prays it is help. When
Aiden takes her to his home, Jaedin learns the accident has taken her
eyesight, but Aiden is very attentive to her needs. As they slowly learn
about the other, Jaedin is certain she has been to the area in her time
when she was smaller and things were in ruins. She even recalls stories
her Gram would tell her about the MacAlister men. Can the two stay
together throughout any time, or will Jaedin be transported back to the
present, leaving behind the man who has captured her heart?
I must say Her Noble Destiny is a sweeping tale that transports the
reader into a majestic time period. I fell in love with the descriptions
of the era, the castle, not to mention Jaedin and Aiden. Jaedin is
remarkable the way she loses her eyesight yet uses other senses, and
measures, to grasp everything around her. The passion, and love, shared
between Jaedin, and Aiden, spins a love affair that surpasses through
time. Annie Marshall pens an exciting tale sweeping this reader into a
lovely land, with vivid characters that captivate, and take the breath
away, in this rare story of love.

Greer is a Captain in the US Army and she is also a nurse. Currently,
she is stationed in Iraq attached to a Military Police unit. On this
particular day, Jaedin is on her way to wounded soldiers when her Humvee
is hit. Jaedin is blinded and knocked out. When she comes to, she isn’t
where she expects to be.
Aiden is the younger brother of the head of the MacAlister clan of
Scotland in 1296. His brother and his wife have disappeared when the
queen of the fae came in a swirl wind. Since then, Aiden has been trying
to take care of not only his estate but his brother’s. What he doesn’t
expect is to find a blind, naked woman on the path between the two! No
knowing what else to do, Aiden picks up the woman and takes her back to
his castle.
Aiden is determined to take care of this strange woman but things get
interesting when a neighbor and his daughter show up. The daughter is
determined to make Aiden her husband and sees Jaedin and a definite
threat even though she is blind. Aiden having no desire to marry anyone
is finding out that he may not have a choice.
Observing and possibly directing it all are the Ancients. Unknown to
Jaedin, she is being tested to see if she deserves to take her spot
within the Ancients royalty.
This book is part of a series of books involving woman, testing, the fae
and Scots. It is not necessary to read the previous book in this series
to enjoy this one. It can definitely stand on its own though characters
from the previous book open this one.
This is a fairly short story so the characters are not extremely well
developed but they do have enough characteristics as to not be flat.
Aiden’s despair over his brother and sister-in-law’s disappearance is
evident. The stress of trying to run two properties is expressed.
Jaedin’s dedication to duty and her concern about those in her unit
comes across as they come under fire. All in all, characters are defined
though not fully developed.
This story jumps from present day to the past and to the Ancients. Not
all of the transitions are done smoothly though they are definite
breaks. Some of these breaks felt choppy.
Historically, I’m not sure how realistic the period is portrayed but as
it only serves as a backdrop and not an essential part of the story, it
doesn’t really matter.
This is a fun quick summer story. It’s short enough to be enjoyed during
an afternoon visit to the beach yet long enough to give you a wonderful
view into a world of magic.

She’s an Army nurse in a warzone. He’s a Scottish laird recovering from
the loss of his brother. Who knew that 600 years, a Fae Queen, and
circumstances beyond their control would bring them together? And what
will happen when she can’t see her champion? She’ll learn Her Noble
Destiny.
This is the second novella in the Destiny Series by Annie Marshall. As a
reader, I’m not normally drawn into historicals, but this book held my
attention until the last page. Not exactly a historical and not totally
contemporary, Ms. Marshall’s work appeals to readers in both categories
and leaves them begging for more.
I liked that her heroine, Jaedin was a strong woman, even when a
physical disability could’ve brought her down. She persevered. Many
women should take a page from her struggles. As for the hero, Aiden made
a tasty alpha male. He wanted what he wanted, when he wanted. I liked
that he never gave up.
The scenes were rich with detail. You felt like you were truly in
Scotland and in the desert with the characters. And the love scenes?
Some writers struggle with passion in the love scenes. Not Ms. Marshall.
Even when the characters aren’t together, you know that Aiden holds a
strong fondness for Jaedin and vice versa.
If you want a new spin on the time-travel novella, filled with passion
and unique characters, then Her Noble Destiny is the novella for you. I
give this work 4 ½ books.

Jaedin Greer, injured in the heat of battle in modern day Iraq, is
suddenly taken back to 1300 A.D. Scotland. Aiden MacAlister recues her
from falling into the loch and after discovering she is blind, takes her
under his protection. As Jaedin heals from her physical disability and
Aiden heals from the devastating death of his brother, they find there
is a bond between them that intensifies into love. But all too soon,
fate steps in once again. Ms. Marshall paints a beautiful ancient
Scottish landscape as a background to a tender love story. Her Noble
Destiny is intensely romantic and satisfies our yearning for true love
and magical intervention in an exciting setting. Although there were a
few POV problems regarding Jaedin’s inability to see, the realistic and
intense battle scene in Iraq doubly made up for it. Her Noble Destiny
was a pleasure to read and I look forward to Ms. Marshall’s next book.
