Forced to marry Catheryn by
the Earl of York, Gerard finds himself at odds with his new and unwanted
wife. She knows where the villain who carried out Pike's dastardly
orders is hiding, yet refuses to divulge the information.
When a traitor to King
Stephen is discovered to be operating out of Brezden Keep, Gerard has
little choice but to question his wife's loyalty. Is she in league with
the traitor de Brye?
While the couple's
relationship lacks trust, it does not lack passion. They share a desire
that burns hot between them. But is it strong enough to overcome doubt
and distrust? Can they build a marriage on passion?
Along with searching for
the traitor who is wreaking havoc on Brezden, Catheryn and Gerard seek
answers to these questions. By the time Catheryn realizes that Gerard is
worthy of her trust, she's been implicated in a plot to smuggle supplies
and funds to the King's rival.
Captured and held hostage
at the earl's keep in Scarborough, Catheryn is shocked to find her enemy
there too. An enemy who takes her captive and holds her in a cave.
Gerard and his men rush the
cave to rescue Catheryn. When she sees the dark and dangerous knight
from her dreams bearing down on her she knows for certain that the dream
had not lied. He had not sought her death, but her rescue.
Catheryn is safe and de
Brye is captured and detained at Brezden. A fight ensues leaving de
Brye dead and Catheryn injured. Waiting for Catheryn to awaken from a
long, healing sleep, Gerard realizes that if he loses Catheryn, he loses
everything—his heart, his soul, his reason for living. Just as
important he'll lose his newfound belief in dreams of tomorrow.
When Catheryn awakens, Gerard presents her with a ring. An emerald set
in an intricately carved gold band. A ring identical to the one the
dark knight in her dreams wore as he charged toward her and Brezden.
The promise of the yarrow
had been true. Her dream had foretold not of death and destruction, but
of rescue, of safety, and of love.
